Red Grip bottle cage // Nice one!

Just after getting this excellent looking Red Grip bottle cage from the sales rep from Red who visited us at work today.

Red is an Irish company based in Kildare. After the quick presentation of the company's range I pointed out how cool the colours are. Also mentioned how good the colour coordination would be with this cage on the new Anthem. And after that there was the nice surprise: I got to hold on this beauty!

Happy days, thanks very much! It's already fitted and ready for some serious testing up in the Wicklow Mountains!

2014 European XC Marathon Champs // Update # 6

There's only 3 months left until the Europeans. Everything is going well, training seems to be paying off indeed. But of course there's lots of room to improve! Getting fitter and definitely feeling better on the bike week by week.

Started to bring more intensity into my long off-road spins. I will also start my usual spring interval training very soon, so that should help me to get better on the long climbs that we have to deal with on the course. Since I moved house I have more distance to cover as my daily commute, so I end up doing 8-9 hours weekly. It isn't very much some might say but with work commitments and little Rhys in the house this is about as far as I can go in relation of my training.

Anyway. Feeling happy about how things are and I'm ready to start my next training block with all the crazy interval sessions.

Climb, climb, climb. Then start again...and again...and again... Bring it on!

The spin that almost didn't happen

I had this spin planned for this afternoon, been planning all week long...and then of course the skies opened up badly straight after lunch I decided to postpone the ride and go tomorrow instead. But an hour later there was a 10 minute window between showers, so I decided to man up and go for a savage XC session. Now, of course by the time I hit the end of the street I got lashed on but still, to go for a spin was the best decision this week!

The weather was a bit crazy throughout the 2 hours and 30 minutes long spin, but I really had a good time in the saddle. Went over to Threerock on the long way over the hills. Good spin it was and by the time I got home my little bike maniac buddy was waiting for me...

... or for another chance to check out the bike? Hard to tell! :)
