July update

Yep, I'm still around and doing my thing. Been off-road a lot in the past weeks and having fun on the trails alright. The preparation is going kinda ok I guess... but we will see in September at this year's Mátra Marathon. At this point it is 100% sure that I will line up at the start line only there...will not be doing any other races this year.

Happy out! :)

Hey, I'm back!! // Just a quick update

Well, it has been a while since my last post...shame on me I need to admit! After the racing season I just did what I always do: doing my thing without much of a commitment and enjoy life as much as I can! :) Here I have a few shots of what I've been up to lately.

Done some nice autumn riding...

... and also a savage night spin!

Visited nice places up in the mountains...

...and at the Danube also! Stunning!

And most importantly spent some quality time with my kids...:)

So, life is going great and I can say that I'm recharged and ready to do some work! In fairness I'm already doing as I started my winter training about 2 weeks ago. I'm back on the bike and I'm back running also.

The motivation is there, I have a few goals for next year, so roll on 2019!!! Bring it on!!!

April update

Hi all! I've been quiet lately as my plate is full with loads of things... but I'm back here again and it's about time to post a quick update! :)

The training is going pretty well I can say. My first race of the season is only 4 weeks away so it's time to speed up and have the savage spins done! The form is coming, the motivation is through the roof! I'm also dying to see my new team kit!! #excitingtimes #can'twait

Finally we are back riding trails again!!

Yessss, the weather has finally cleared off a tad bit. This could mean only one thing for a mountain biker: hit the trails without a second of hesitation!

Now, some places were still almost unrideable but at least we could ride some of the local trails getting the taste of some sweet mountain biking. Man, I was waiting to see these trails badly!!! :)

I've had a good week on the bike, I managed to get out for training 4 times this week. I was riding  8 hour and 45 minutes and done 168 km with 2745 meters of climbing. Finally I put in a solid week of training and that's good for now! I even had a chance to celebrate...

... with a lovely piece of mignon from my favourite pastry shop! :)

Back on the turbo trainer

With the weather being pretty grim at the moment I've decided to grab the turbo out of the closet and have today's training session next to the fire at The Shed.

It was the smart thing to do as I was ill during last week with some nasty coughs and stuff. I rather prefer riding my bike outside but the last thing I need right now is to get sick again, so I had a nice & easy 1 hour turbo session just to get the legs turning again. Savage music, cosy fire and a bitta training... what more could I ask for?! Oh yeah, I know: for some good weather! That's exactly what I need!!

Sunday spin on the roads of Cserhát

After being kinda not well all week I luckily managed to get rid of the sore throat. This could mean only one thing: a nice training spin. Today we decided to stay on the flat grounds and headed toward the Cserhát for a change.

The weather was mild enough with a good bit of sun but by the time we got back home after the 2 hours and 20 mintes, 50 km long spin I was way out of my comfort zone with freezin' hands and toes. But hey! No pain, no gain as they say!! :)

PS: I'm really looking forward to the good weather...

Finally! Winter is here!!

Yep, a proper amount of snow has dropped overnight. This could mean only one thing: a savage winter MTB session in the snow! So we got on the bike got one of the best winter spin done in ages. There was a loooot of going sideways I'm tellin' ya! :)

Good bye 2017 // The last spin of the year

What a spot!

Lovin' it

The Cserhát looks great even in these poor conditions

The last spin of the year is always cool

Savage training buddy, thanks for all the hard work in 2017!

My winter holiday has kicked off finally!

Yeah baby, holiday time is here! I started my winter holiday a few days back, I'll be off work for 2 weeks. This could mean only one thing: there is plenty of cycling and running coming my way for sure!

The weather is getting nice & wintery also, so yes... it'll be fun folks. My plate is full with a huge amount of preparation for Christmas and the usual family commitments but I will find time time to get a few nice spins done.

I can also report that I'm making a bit of a progression while wearing the running shoes. I'm getting the hang of it now and there is no turning back there either. So, all I can say: bring on the free time and the winter training!! :)

Just a quick update

It's about time to pop my head up on the web and send a quick update here. Things are fine, training is going alright. Winter spins are going great although we are pretty much forced to stay on the road as the trails are really not good at the moment.

I recently started running again. I'm out and about 2 times a week and by now I've reached the 10k barrier nicely. Of course the plan is there: keep going like this through the winter months and increase the distance nicely.

So here we are folks, nothing special to report anyway. Just the usual stuff. My holiday is coming soon, I'll be off work so hopefully I can get some long spins and savage running sessions under way soon. Bring it on! :)

Autumn mountain bike happiness is here

Yep, things are going alright lately! My favourite season of the year is closing on us, autumn is here folks. The trails are rolling great, leafs are falling and every minute on the bike is an absolute happiness.

The single speed beast is always ready to bite, so I'm expecting a huge amount of action filled spins on the local trails and also on undiscovered lands.

Here we go: going sideways on slimy leafs & hit the climbs hard with one eye on the possibility of getting some sweet KOMs. Come on fall, bring it on! :)

Good bye dude, see you soon!

Yesterday we had another savage XC loop. It was a bit different this time as it was kind of a good bye spin. My good mate and training buddy is travelling back to Ireland and this was the last chance to ride some sweet local trails befor his flight.

The spin was brilliant: 62 km under 3 hours and 18 minutes with elevation very close to the 1000 m mark. Good speed, good conditions but the most important thing good chat along the way.

Thanks a lot boss, I'll see you in December. Au revoir, safe home!

The Muzsla has finally been conquered!

I love the local trails, I sure do. I know them well and I'm 100% familiar with the hills around my place. Oh... this could actually be true... except that it's not. There is a mountain peak called Muzsla that I never climbed before due to the fact that it's kinda tricky to get to. Well, it was up until now!

As we had an early training spin planned for this morning I set my alarm, got up at 5 am and was all good to go soon after that.

Left the house in the morning sunrise that amazes me every time I get to see it. Everything's nice and quiet, just the way I like it!

The destination was set, we turned straight towards the climb that leads to the peak. It's a bit of a savage climb as it's 9,5 km long with over 650 meters of climbing. The final few hundred meters are incredibly steep! But it totally worth it, the place is brilliant!

And then the descent, wow! It is rocky as hell and pretty fast too. It's a real fun filled XC descent that drops 600 meters in 5,3 km. Nice, isn't it? :)

So, from now on I know the way to the biggest mountain peak near my village. The spin was deadly, we have done 55 km in 3 hours and 20 minutes and climbed a bit over the 1000 meters mark. The trails were brilliant and there is still plenty of chance to make this loop longer. Much longer! Roll on next time!!

Lovely Saturday MTB Session

After I got the bike back from brake service and had a great spin on Thursday it was pretty obvious that I'm heading out today also. My training buddy Józsi was at work, so it was a loner spin.

The weather was pretty mad in the afternoon and due to the massive storms during the week I've decided to stay local and ride the local trails in case I need to leg it and get back home asap. I've had some close calls alright, got soaked a few times but all in it was a great spin indeed.

The trails were riding really fine, the ground was just perfect. Not too dusty, no too wet... just lovely! I was out on the bike for 2 hours and 20 minutes and done 46 km with 780 m of elevation. Nothing special but it was surely a great spin that cleared out my head after a busy week! And that's just what I was after! :)
