Hey, I'm back!! // Just a quick update

Well, it has been a while since my last post...shame on me I need to admit! After the racing season I just did what I always do: doing my thing without much of a commitment and enjoy life as much as I can! :) Here I have a few shots of what I've been up to lately.

Done some nice autumn riding...

... and also a savage night spin!

Visited nice places up in the mountains...

...and at the Danube also! Stunning!

And most importantly spent some quality time with my kids...:)

So, life is going great and I can say that I'm recharged and ready to do some work! In fairness I'm already doing as I started my winter training about 2 weeks ago. I'm back on the bike and I'm back running also.

The motivation is there, I have a few goals for next year, so roll on 2019!!! Bring it on!!!

One of those "Daddy Moments"

Life is about those special moments that don't come too often but when they do they are truly special! I had one of these moments recently.

As a cyclist it is absolutely priceless to see your kid getting into the stuff that your living for. I got to experience this feeling when my son Rhys decided to race the kids race at the Mátra Maraton last Saturday.

A quick practice lap on the "course" :)

Getting to the Start Line

They are ready to go :)

To see my 4 year old race his little bike that he just learned to ride 2 months ago was amazing. He was lovin' it indeed and was really happy about the whole thing. I can only say the same thing! Brilliant feeling and I'm sure it wasn't the last time to lined up to the start line at a kids race! :)

Mátra Maraton 2016 // 1 week to go

Another week is gone. It means we are another week closer to this years Mátra Maraton. At this stage there 's only a week to go or...wait a sec...the race is on this weekend actually!!

We had our last proper spin before the race, so we are prepared. Well, in my head I am anyway, we will see about the body on Sunday! :)

I'm excited to race indeed but I'm even more excited to see my older son Rhys at the start line of kids race on Saturday. It will be his first ever bike race and at the age of 4 it sure means the whole world to him right now. It will be a great buzz for the both of us for sure, can't wait!! :)

Long weekend // Part 2

Ok so, change of plan. Although I've had another MTB spin planned for this weekend it turned out to be a differnt ball game altogether.

We went out with the kids and had some nice quality family time together. Then the weather had a drastic change too and as I'm far from being 100% healthy I've decided to skip the ride altogether. Ah well, it happens but I managed to find a way to spend the little free rime I have the way I like it. :)

The real adventure continues!

One of the happiest moments of my life for sure. Our second son, Baby Zalán has arrived yesterday. Mummy and Baby are both well and still in the hospital but will be at home soon!

It's amazing to have two boys and to continue (and also restart) Lifes Biggest Adventure: raising a child. I can't wait for them to be here with us! :)

So, I'm saying mountain biking good bye for a little while as I'll be pretty buys I'd say! :)

My last spin...

...well, for a little while anyway. I've had my last training spin the other day. I don't want to gamble and leave the heavily pregnant Lady in the house alone. So, I've decided to stay in and I will not be heading out on the bike in case we need to rush to the hospital.

I will also take a break for a few weeks like I did when Rhys was born. I'll be helping out a lot and wouldn't have enough time to ride my bike. But I have the perfect solution this time: managed to dig out my old turbo trainer, so I'll be doing loads of training on it for sure. :)

The countdown has started

Being a dad is a great adventure. This adventure is about the start again with our second child. Baby No.2 can arrive pretty much any day now, so the whole family is on standby mode.

So I guess I will need to stay close to home during my upcoming spins in case I have to leg it and get home quickly!

Needless to say how excited I am! Another cool little dude that I can get into the awesome world of mountain biking! It won't be long before the three of us will be shredding on the trails, no doubt about that!! :)

Bonding

Every time. Every time my little boy Rhys comes into my Bike Shed he is absolutely stunned. He is fascinated by the bike and all the gear that comes with it. And of course as a mountain biker dad I'm super happy to see this! Brilliant to see a 3 year old to go mad for the bike and all it's details!! :)

Training spin with my Dad

Wow, how cool is that?! We had a training spin together with my Dad this evening! The last time cycled together was about 10 year ago, so needless to say how nice it was to go for a spin together after all this time.

We used to cycle a lot together and we did a fair amount of racing together as well back in the day. Now I'm living in Hungary we have the chance to refresh things.

It was great to see him back on the bike. I'm very proud to say that I have a Dad who is 62 years of age and still fit and in a very good shape. All we need to do is a few more spin like this and then we might even plan some marathon racing towards the end of the summer.

That would be 100% brilliant, hah?!

The Little Mountain Biker // The journey begins!

So here we are, reached a big milestone this weekend. Rhys had his very first off road session on his little balance bike. The whole day started as a nice family day out. One thing led to another and we found ourselves out in the nature with some fine singletracks around.

The little man wasted no time, he had a blast riding this little machine off-road. Fire roads and single tracks...gravel and dust...not a bother!!

He refused to avoid the climb...that's a good sign, sin't it?! :)
It's refreshment time

We have been out on the bike for a good while and I'm glad to see that he loved every minute of it. It was a real adventure for him and he can't wait for the next time already!

Start them young as they say. Hopefully this is the beginning of his moutain biking life, a wonderful journey that is ahead of him. We'll see how it goes and of course I'll be there for him along the way! :)

New bike in the house!

Yes, there's a new bike in the house! This time the lucky owner isn't me but my Little Man. He's almost 3 years old and there was time to move on from the little plastic bike with 3 wheels to a proper little balance bike.

I managed to pick up this brilliant little machine yesterday at this balance bike specific shop in Budapest ( http://tanulobicikli.hu/ ). Impressive selection they have and the staff were absolutely amazing. Many bike shop staff should learn from these guys I can tell you that!

So, the happiness was delivered last night and eversince he and his new bike are inseparable. It's funny to see a 3 year old to be over the moon and all that thanks to the "first bike"! Good stuff Rhys, enjoy!! :)

Very productive morning :)

This is the result when you put together a two and a half year old, a cyclist dad and a sticker book. Let's just say: Rhys and I both had a great time this morning! ;)

Just a quick update

There has been a lack of posts on the blog lately I know. The one and only reason is that I don't have too much going on in relation of biking. I'm mega busy at work and also enjoy spending time with my family. And since there are no more races planned for the summer I decided to dial down a bit on training. Riding once a week and that's about it these days.

Working hard, being a dad, riding my bike and enjoying life in general. Happy days! :)

Rhys is the best little helper in Dublin city :)

Vegetable curry with home made chips, yumm-yumm

Nice & cold Paulaner, non-alcoholic of course ;)

It's been a while...

...since my last post mainly because I wasn't doing much on the bike in the last 3 weeks. I've been busy with many things and also went for holiday back to Hungary. This time was special 'cause this was our first visit with Rhys!

We had amazing weather!

I missed the bike indeed but it was so nice to go back to the family home and visit our family after one and a half year. Rhys was a little Super Star at home, he amazed everyone! Haha!! :)

But after this shprt break I'm back to Dublin and planning to do at least one more cross race, so there's plenty to do in order to feel good on the bike! To start my prep I'll be heading out for some good, old fashioned cyclo-cross spin tomorrow morning and put the bike through some proper mud in the park!

Feels weird not to ride my bike

Riding my bike...huh...I don't even remember exactly when I've been out for a spin but it's well over 3 weeks at this point. The funny thing is that I do miss riding my bike but I don't feel a strong desire to go for a spin just now 'cause I rather stay at home and spend time with my son Baby Rhys and my wife Anett.

Being a Dad is keeping me very busy indeed. Riding my bike is my least concern during my daily routine that is filled with all sorts of baby stuff. But the best part is that I absolutely love being around and be part of all these things just simply feels great! I would simply feel I miss out something nice while I'm riding my bike somewhere in the middle of the nowhere.

This feels a bit weird of course because I spent so much time on the bike in the last 10-12 years and never had long break like this before. But hey! The priorities are different from now on and that is absolutely fine! I'm sure I'll get back on the bike soon, but not now. Not just yet. I just simply enjoy this special time with my family! Happy days!!! :)

The real adventure has started!

Happiest time of my life without a question: our son, baby Rhys has arrived on last Thursday (7th of June) so the biggest adventure has started in our life! Mum and baby are already at home making me super happy!

One of those special moments! Unbelievable!

There are no words to describe that wonderful experience that I'm going through now! Super happy time! So, bye-bye mountainbiking, I'll be back later in this summer! :)
